Ambition is the path to success, persistence is the vehicle you arrive in
Ever been in the gym and not done something for fear being found out about not knowing what you’re doing? Ever convinced yourself you don’t have time because of work, family and other commitments?
YOLO! Often quoted when someone ‘falls off the wagon’ or lapses in their fitness goal commitment. Just one lapse seems to derail the whole thing. But they were never on the wagon, they never had the right mindset from the get go!
How does that help?
Here’s an example played out every year. Someone joins the gym, 2 weeks in they’ve lost 4lbs. But the following week put 2lbs on… They stuck to the ‘diet’ followed the workout and still put weight on. Its soul destroying… So why even bother? This is often the point where most will give up, only to repeat the same mistakes later in the year… MADNESS!
With a good mindset, you will see opportunity, evaluate and learn from your mistakes. The routine might be the issue, it could be the diet. When you quit all you guarantee is failure, never to learn and always repeating the mistakes of the past.

What is it?
A mindset is a compilation of your held beliefs and values. This adjusts the way you handle situations, helping you seize opportunity or leave you in a self-defeating limbo of hopelessness.
We all have thoughts about what we can or can’t do, positive and negative emotions surround different situations. These thoughts shape our lives, they come from interactions of those around us and past experiences shaping our approach on life. Whether you try new things or stick to the status-quo. Do you get up to dance or stand at the bar at a wedding, ask for promotion vs hope someone notices your work.
Let me speak from experience, I’ve been in every one of the above situations. I’ve tried break dancing. I’ve gave up on university because I didn’t think I was ‘clever’ enough. Yeah, I danced like no one was watching and even sometimes wish they weren’t… Each time I learned that I was in a different frame of mind about the situation. Sometimes you’re comfortable and others not. It’s the uncomfortable that allows us to do more, to learn more and have confidence.

Negative
If you ever felt hopeless after failing, future attempts might be avoided based on a fear of repeating the past. This is a fixed mindset, doubting your future ability based on past experience. Positive A growth mindset looks at failure as an opportunity. Learning from mistakes, but also not fearing new ones as you grow. Without a growth mindset, you will find reasons to fail, blame others or quit when it gets too hard. Small successes consistently lead to big wins achieving longterm results. Most of us have goals, but seldom achieve them because they didn’t have a plan or strategy. It isn’t a switch, it’s something you train, refining over time. You might fail 10 times, but if you give up what was the point in starting? The approach you used might not work for you, so you try a different angle and all the time you’re learning what doesn’t work you’ll gain new understanding. |
The long game
Most will have seen promises of shredding pounds in no time at all. Follow the diet plan and you’ll hit your target. These 100% work* But they focus on the micro. If you’re ever done a diet plan and found that you put the weight on when you stop this is essentially the fixed mindset, this is like banging your head against the wall. You know they never worked in the past, because they came back rebranded it might work… NO!
It takes a mental strength to achieve longterm results. We don't just train you to get stronger, we’ll help you develop a mindset that changes your beliefs about what’s possible. We want you to have autonomy in your ability to achieve any results whether in the gym or life that reach far beyond training with us!
*Small print for those that care – They are not sustainable, utter shite and trick people to thinking they’re being ‘healthy’ having such a restrictive diet that’s a one size fits all…
